War of the Worlds

A pin-up inspired by Steven Spielberg's 2005 film adaptation of the H.G. Wells' 19th century proto-SF novel, which I also like a lot. The creation of this pin-up lasted way longer than I had desired. It was conceived in July of 2011 when I drew a pencil sketch of only Rachel (played by Dakota Fanning) and the Tripod in the background. Then I left the piece unfinished to focus on some other projects; when I resumed the work some months later I decided to add her older brother Robbie to the picture... Finally, in the summer of 2012, I figured I might as well do the whole thing and add the character of Ray Farrier (portrayed by Tom Cruise). A few characters had to be recolored from scratch due to some new coloring approaches that I had developed in the meantime. I updated the pin-up once again by adding a Martian to the mix and finally the A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft... Finally completed in September of 2014!
Don't forget to play THIS in the background and turn the volume to the max!

Tom Waits
Last November I drew this Tom Waits portrait as a birthday present for my best mate. It was colored traditionally in grayscale watercolor. Prior to that I scanned the lineart and now here's a digitally painted version in technicolor.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
A pin-up I created by putting some old unused pencil quickies together.
Turned out quite nice for a bunch of practice/warm-up scraps...

Corto + Gaston
LEFT: Even though I never was a die-hard "Corto Maltese" reader, I did this experimental piece for a Hugo Pratt fan exhibit that will be held during Belgrade's "Night of the Museums" event on May the 19th. RIGHT: Maybe people couldn't guess by the looks of my art today, but Andre Franquin was possibly my biggest influence in art. I studied his style meticulously when I was 15. So, here's a tribute to this great artist and storyteller!

Snape, Snape !
A fully colored pencil quickie of Professor Snape from "Harry Potter". It was just for a random drawing practice, but I decided to color it. Might've spent too many workhours on it, though. The most painful part? Drawing the Slytherin House crest. Seriously.
UPDATE: And here's an alternate take - with the portrait put underneath the parchment texture. Now it looks like one of those artist sketchcards. Which one do you like better?

Nathan from "Misfits"
I've recently watched the first two seasons of Misfits with my girlfriend. Then I drew this quickie of Nathan Young - both obnoxious and lovable, a twat and a prick - probably the most memorable character featured in this British science fiction comedy-drama.
2015 UPDATE: Found a pencil sketch of Kelly among my papers, so I colored it!

NOFX: Backstage Passport
Fat Mike (bass, lead vocals), El Hefe (lead guitar, trumpet, backing vocals), Eric Melvin (rhythm guitar, accordion, the mel-yell) and Smelly (drums) from NOFX. Also, Kent, Jay Walker, Rugly and Limo from their road-crew. NOFX are an American punk band formed in California in 1983. Today, they are probably the biggest and most popular independent punk band in the world best known for their D.I.Y. approach to music (minimal staff and crew, self-management, promotion and show booking, staying off the major record labels, mainstream magazines, MTV and commercial radio stations). The artwork was inspired by their reality TV documentary series "NOFX: Backstage Passport" which was a lot of fun! I wanted to capture a kind of "trading card" look to it.
Check out the awesome "NOFX: Backstage Passport" theme song.

Vekovnici + Beskrvni

Two commissioned covers for two related projects. 1.) Cover art for an episode ("Stayin' Alive") of "Bloodless" comic book created and written by Marko Stojanović. Published in Serbia by System Comics. 2.) The colored version of the pencil illustration I was asked to do for the cover of "Vekovnici" Sketchbook #4. I previously did a 3-page sequential for a "Vekovnici" book in 2010, published by System Comics.

Exhibition Promo Material

The promo material (biography) and the banner/e-mail invitation I produced for my upcoming exhibition at Belgrade Student Cultural Center which will be held from June 3rd to June 17th. On display will be an array of my previous work (childhood era included, starting with 1989) complete with current digital artwork. I especially enjoyed assembling all of my childhood heroes - featured throughout my career - for the first time in one single picture: Gremlins, Jurassic Park, The Addams Family, Terminator, The Crow, Alien, Starship Troopers, Godzilla and fighter jets/Robotech...
UPDATE: A big "thank you" to everyone who came to see the exhibit!

Ron & Hermione
Just some random Harry Potter fan art... Ron and Hermione in the snowy village of Hogsmeade... Below is the background that I did as a separate file in 2012.

Jurassic Park
The sick Triceratops scene. Paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant (portrayed by Sam Neil) and paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) from Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park". Every now and then I tend to re-watch this exciting movie and it amazes me over and over again.

Hudson from "Aliens"
"Even though his motion tracker detected no activity in the sector, Private First Class Hudson, W. suddenly felt the sort of anxiety that you feel when a pointy teeth monster stares at you from the dark - and a strange heat washed over him, the heat that had absolutely nothing to do with the warm corn fields of his native, far away Oklahoma..."
This artwork is based on Bill Paxton's character of Pvt. Hicks, the cocky U.S. Colonial Marine from James Cameron's "Aliens". Ever since the film's 1986 debut, every single line of his dialogue has become a popular cultural reference ("Game over, man, game over!", "Why don't ya put her in charge!", "Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen", "Is this going to be a stand-up fight, sir, or just another bughunt?", "We're on an express elevator to hell, goin' down!" ... just to name a few).

Trespasser: Jurassic Park
This 1998 first-person video game is often regarded as one of the worst titles in gaming history. Advanced for its time - featuring enormous outdoor environment and dynamic physics modeling - it was rushed and went overbudget several times, so many issues remained unsolved. The developers built and scanned a real 3D model of the tropical island which the player could explore entirely thus resulting in hours of non-linear gameplay. "Trespasser" had a thrilling music score, appealing storyline, top voice acting (Minnie Driver and Richard Attenborough) and a trademark Jurassic Park survival horror atmosphere - setting the stage for much successful "Far Cry" series.
Initially, the game was difficult and buggy for me too, but I gave it a second try a few years later. After a while I got so immersed in its unique enviroment, it even gave me a few nightmares.

"Dawson's Creek" revisited

Joey, Dawson and Pacey, the original trio of friends from the coastal town of Capeside, MA - just before the raging hormones kicked in. While I was working on this fan art I listened to Bob Dylan's opus, so I considered naming this piece after Dylan's Times They are A-Changin' as I thought the title summed the essence of the show's first two seasons perfectly...

Billy Idol

Billy Idol put a great show in Belgrade last week. The first piece was inspired by his 1993 experimental concept album Cyberpunk often regarded as his weakest record that started the decline of his career. I, on the other hand, think that this futuristic concept album, influenced by techno and cyberpunk literature, suited Idol's image perfectly and to me it remains his most imaginative effort. But I'm weird, so...

Zombie-Boy
"Mommy, why the f... have you forsaken me?!"
Out of pure boredom, I turned a very rough unused comic book panel sketch into this bizarre piece of artistic improvisation.

MiG pilots

Character designs based on true testimonials by surviving Yugoslav MiG-29 pilots who flew their 14 malfunctioning jets against NATO in 1999. I did a lot of research and put a lot of time and effort into retrieving every possible information in order to reconstruct these events as true as possible. I hope to produce some more of these character sheets in the future, hopefully to include some more MiG pilots as well as some of their NATO adversaries.
